Florence Students win Wendy’s High School Heisman

Florence High School was honored to have two students selected as the Rankin County recipients of the Wendy’s High School Heisman. To be considered for this honor, a student must maintain highest honors in the classroom, be a proven leader in the school and community, and excel in school athletics.

Senior Brad Dennis has been a member of the Varsity Football, Baseball, and Basketball teams at FHS. As quarterback of the football team he led the Eagles to a District Championship for 2016 and was named Most Valuable Player for the District. He was chosen for the State Games in Baseball for his Sophomore and Junior year and was chosen as All-District for his Junior Year. With FHS Basketball, Brad was chosen as Defensive Player of the Year for 2015-16. He is a member of the BETA Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and FHS Health Science Academy. Brad is a member of First Baptist Church of Florence where he is an active member in the Youth Group.

Senior Mallory Ivy has been a member of the Varsity Eaglette Dance Team, The FHS JROTC Physical Training Team, JROTC Raiders, and the FHS Bowling team. With the Eaglettes, she earned the ranking of All-American all four years. She served as Co-Captain her sophomore and junior year and Captain her senior year. With the FHS JROTC, she has earned the ranking of Brigade Commander for her senior year. She also served the group as Company Commander, Company First Sargeant, and Platoon Sargeant. She served as captain for the JROTC Academic Team, JROTC Raiders and of the 3-time State Champion JROTC PT Team. She is also a member of the JROTC Service Learning Team. Mallory has been a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council, Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, BETA Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Prom Committee. She has been a 4-year student in the FHS Business Academy and FHS DECA. She was elected Vice-President of her Sophomore and Junior Class and was elected as Student Body President her Senior Year. Mallory was chosen to represent her class on the FHS Homecoming Court her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. She was selected by the student body as Homecoming Queen for 2016. Mallory is a member of First Baptist Church in Florence where she is an active member of the Youth Group.
